Hello and welcome to my website

I am a dedicated health professional whose ethos centres on recognising the unique physical and emotional well-being of each individual. With a strong commitment to empowering my clients, I focus on helping them achieve optimal mobility and function through customised education and movement strategies.

I graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1997. I began my career in the NHS, where I honed my skills in various specialities, including orthopaedics, respiratory care, ICU, amputee care, and neurology. Over time, I became a senior clinician specialising in musculoskeletal outpatients and women's health, effectively treating a wide range of musculoskeletal symptoms while providing obstetric and gynaecological care in hospital, community, and GP settings. In the private sector, I also worked at the Sussex Centre for Sports Medicine and Sportswise, collaborating with professional athletes during their rehabilitation processes.

My journey into Pilates began in 1998, starting with training at DMA Clinical Pilates, Australia, followed by Stott Pilates in Canada, and culminating in a year-long equipment-based certification with the Pilates Foundation UK. Additionally, I hold qualifications in Garuda and am a certified 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher, as well as a registered Pink Ribbon Mastectomy rehabilitation and Menopause Yoga practitioner.

From 2007 to 2024, I owned and operated The Clinical Pilates Studio in Eastbourne, where I created a holistic clinic focused on empowering individuals through movement. My studio's goal was to provide clients with the tools they needed to lead healthy, active lives, regardless of ability. Although the studio has since closed, my work remains accessible via an on-demand library.

I have a particular interest in Women's Health and Hypermobility syndromes, which led me to develop "The Reconnect to Your Pelvic Floor Method," an online educational program designed to help women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction.

As a passionate advocate for movement and knowledge sharing, I have had the privilege of guest lecturing at various esteemed institutions, including the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Brighton University, Pilates Method Alliance, Balanced Body, and the Fascia Symposium in both the UK and the USA.

I also design and deliver my own Clinical Pilates Teacher Training CPD courses and am an accredited CIMSPA Educator Partner. I am currently writing a comprehensive, evidence-based book on Female Pelvic Health.

“After years of pain from scoliosis and a fractured coccyx, I found Mary. I had been offered operations by consultants and been turned away by hospital Physio’s as they didn’t know what to do with me. walking, standing and even swimming were all painful! Now as long as I keep up my exercises I am pain free. I started with private sessions and now I am part of a specialist Pilates back class. My mobility and strength have vastly improved. Mary and her combination of Pilates and Physiotherapy, individual assessment & attention has given me back a good quality of life without continuous pain. THANK YOU!”
