Hello and welcome to my website

My ethos centers on recognising each individual's unique physical and emotional well-being. I am dedicated to supporting clients in achieving optimal mobility and function through personalised education and movement strategies.

I graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1997, beginning my career in the NHS where I developed skills in orthopaedics, respiratory/ICU, amputee care, and neurology. I later specialised as a senior clinician in musculoskeletal outpatients and women's health, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal symptoms and providing obstetric/gynaecological care in hospital, community, and GP settings. In the private sector, I have also worked at the Sussex Centre for Sports Medicine, Sportswise, often collaborating with professional athletes on their rehabilitation.

My journey into Pilates began in 1998 when I initially trained with DMA Clinical Pilates, Australia, followed by Stott Pilates in Canada, and then a year-long equipment-based certification with the Pilates Foundation UK. I also hold qualifications in Garuda and I am a certified 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher. Additionally, I am a registered Pink Ribbon Mastectomy rehabilitation and Menopause Yoga practitioner.

From 2007 to 2024, I owned and operated The Clinical Pilates Studio in Eastbourne. The studio’s focus was on creating a holistic clinic that empowers individuals through movement, providing them with the tools to lead healthy and active lives regardless of their current ability. My studio work is still accessible via my on demand library.

My particular interest in Women's Health and Hypermobility syndromes led me to develop "The Reconnect to your Pelvic Floor Method," an online educational program designed for women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction.

I am passionate about movement and sharing knowledge, which has led me to guest lecture at various esteemed institutions including the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Brighton University, Pilates Method Alliance, Fascia Symposium UK, Pilates Method Alliance USA, Pilates Foundation UK, Alan Herdman’s - Celebration of Movement, and Balanced Body. I also design and deliver my own Clinical Pilates Teacher Training CPD courses and am an accredited CIMSPA Educator Partner.

At present I am currently writing a comprehensive evidence based book on Female Pelvic Health

If you need help with movement rehabilitation, student mentoring or are looking for a guest lecturer for your organisation please reach out to me.

“After years of pain from scoliosis and a fractured coccyx, I found Mary. I had been offered operations by consultants and been turned away by hospital Physio’s as they didn’t know what to do with me. walking, standing and even swimming were all painful! Now as long as I keep up my exercises I am pain free. I started with private sessions and now I am part of a specialist Pilates back class. My mobility and strength have vastly improved. Mary and her combination of Pilates and Physiotherapy, individual assessment & attention has given me back a good quality of life without continuous pain. THANK YOU!”
